Tennis Field Supervisor – Summer 2025

Madison School & Community Recreation (MSCR) is Madison’s public recreation provider.  MSCR offers a wide variety of athletic, recreational, arts and enrichment activities and classes for all ages in an accessible, inclusive setting. Programs include swimming instruction, MSCR on the Move, arts & enrichment classes, youth summer camps, sports camps & clinics, adult & 50+ fitness, adult sport leagues including pickleball, softball and tennis, and a wide variety of outdoor pursuits including paddling sports, pontoon trips, camping, orienteering and challenge courses.

As a department of the Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD), MSCR also provides afterschool enrichment activities, clubs and sports as well as summer programming in Madison elementary, middle and high schools, Allied Learning Center and Meadowood Neighborhood Center.  Afterschool clubs and sports include: arts & enrichment, homework/academic clubs, drama, dance, skiing, soccer, basketball, volleyball, cross country and much more!

Program Description: 

MSCR Tennis offers USTA beginner- and intermediate-level tennis lessons for youth in grades K-9 and for adults in a fun, recreational setting with a focus on sportsmanship.

Job Description & Duties: 

  • On-site management of tennis instruction for both youth and adults.
  • Develop and implement appropriate structured tennis lessons to all participants, youth and adults.
  • Assist in training and skill development of tennis staff.
  • Communicate with families and participants on-site.
  • Maintain a safe, positive atmosphere for all participants.

  • Hours a Week:

    Up to 30 hours per week.

  • Work Hours:

    Daytime (8:15am-12:30pm) and evening (4:45-8:30pm) weekday hours, Monday-Thursday

  • Pay Rate:

    $18.00 /hour

  • Minimum Qualifications:
    • Must have at least two summer seasons or one full school year of experience overseeing/leading a tennis program.
    • Experience playing tennis.
    • Knowledge of tennis techniques, rules and strategy
    • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of youth and adults.
    • Desire to work with youth in a recreational setting.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Knowledge of USTA programs and curricula
