Adapted City Club Program Staff – Winter/Spring 2025
Madison School & Community Recreation (MSCR) is Madison’s public recreation provider. MSCR offers a wide variety of athletic, recreational, arts and enrichment activities and classes for all ages in an accessible, inclusive setting. Programs include swimming instruction, MSCR on the Move, arts & enrichment classes, youth summer camps, sports camps & clinics, adult & 50+ fitness, adult sport leagues including pickleball, softball and tennis, and a wide variety of outdoor pursuits including paddling sports, pontoon trips, camping, orienteering and challenge courses.
As a department of the Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD), MSCR also provides afterschool enrichment activities, clubs and sports as well as summer programming in Madison elementary, middle and high schools, Allied Learning Center and Meadowood Neighborhood Center. Afterschool clubs and sports include: arts & enrichment, homework/academic clubs, drama, dance, skiing, soccer, basketball, volleyball, cross country and much more!
Program Description:
Do you have a passion for creating fun and inclusive experiences for people with disabilities?
The Adapted City Club is a social club for people with disabilities to enjoy arts & crafts, fitness activities, games, and field trips. MSCR is seeking enthusiastic staff to lead a variety of social, recreational, fitness, and outdoor activities for adults with disabilities (ages 13+) and their caregivers. This program fosters social interaction, promotes healthy lifestyles, and provides opportunities for exploration and engagement.
Job Description & Duties:
Plan and lead engaging activities in arts & crafts, fitness, games, and field trips.
Create a welcoming and supportive environment.
Empower participation and foster fun.
Adapt activities to meet individual needs and abilities.
Assist with personal care needs.
- Locations MSCR East, MSCR West
- Start Date 02/05/2025
- End Date 05/08/2025
- Hours a Week:
Up to 5 hours per week.
- Work Hours:
Wednesdays and/or Thursdays, 4-6:15pm.
- Pay Rate:
$15-18 per hour.
- Minimum Qualifications:
Strong interest in working with people with disabilities.
Creativity and a positive, enthusiastic attitude. - Preferred Qualifications:
Experience planning and leading recreational/enrichment activities.
Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively as part of a team. - Other Information:
Hours can be combined with other jobs within Adapted programs or other MSCR program areas to reach the desired number of hours.
