Adapted Programs – Indoor Pickleball Instructor – Summer 2025

Madison School & Community Recreation (MSCR) is Madison’s public recreation provider.  MSCR offers a wide variety of athletic, recreational, arts and enrichment activities and classes for all ages in an accessible, inclusive setting. Programs include swimming instruction, MSCR on the Move, arts & enrichment classes, youth summer camps, sports camps & clinics, adult & 50+ fitness, adult sport leagues including pickleball, softball and tennis, and a wide variety of outdoor pursuits including paddling sports, pontoon trips, camping, orienteering and challenge courses.

As a department of the Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD), MSCR also provides afterschool enrichment activities, clubs and sports as well as summer programming in Madison elementary, middle and high schools, Allied Learning Center and Meadowood Neighborhood Center.  Afterschool clubs and sports include: arts & enrichment, homework/academic clubs, drama, dance, skiing, soccer, basketball, volleyball, cross country and much more!

Program Description: 

MSCR’s Adapted Recreation program offers year-round Pickleball classes for individuals with disabilities ages 13+ and their caregivers. Designed for all skill levels, this program promotes physical activity, socialization, and fun in an inclusive and accessible environment. Classes are adapted to individual needs and abilities.

Job Description & Duties: 

• Lead Pickleball classes for adults with disabilities.
• Teach the rules and skills of Pickleball.
• Create a welcoming and supportive environment for all participants.
• Set up and manage equipment for classes.

• Start Date 06/17/2025
• End Date 08/12/2025
• Hours a Week:

  1.5 hours/week  (Hours can be combined with other jobs within Adapted programs or other MSCR program areas to reach the desired number of hours.

• Work Hours:

  3:15-4:45pm Tuesdays

• Pay Rate:

  $18.00

• Minimum Qualifications:
  • Strong interest in working with people with disabilities.
  • Strong interest in working with people with disabilities.
  • Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities
• Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience planning and leading recreational activities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Prior experience with Adapted Recreation programs
  • Knowledge of Pickleball rules (training provided if needed).
