Job Description & Duties:

The Inclusion Services Coordinator works collaboratively with the Inclusion Services Specialists to assist with coordination of inclusion of youth and adults with disabilities in MSCR’s inclusive programs and recreational activities. The Coordinator works mainly in an administrative role to monitor the preparation of materials and plans for participants in MSCR programs across the city. They will oversee the organization and completion of support plan documents, compile data, and delegate duties to applicable staff. This may include traveling to sites throughout the school year and summer to meet with or train staff.

General oversight:

Coordinates organization and completion of participant inclusion support plans for summer camps, afterschool and community programs. Delegates to appropriate parties as needed.
Reads and interprets IEPs, participant profiles and other special education documents, and translates into the context of recreation programming.
Inventories and maintains Inclusion Services supplies for sites at MSCR Central and MMSD Pflaum.
Works independently within G-Suite (Google Drive, Sheets, etc.) to assemble, organize, and monitor completion of summer support folders for sites and participants.
Communicates effectively with Inclusion Services Specialists, Field Supervisors, and interns regarding site preparation, program plans, changes, and expectations.
Other duties as specified by the supervisor.

Under the guidance of the MSCR Inclusion Services Specialists:
Conducts interviews for Recreation Inclusion Staff candidates throughout the year.
Contributes to regular Inclusion Services team meetings, providing updates on progress monitoring of site preparation.
Updates and maintains the Inclusion Services Professional Development website.
Compiles staff feedback data on Inclusion Services practices, policies and PD website to create reports for Inclusion Services Specialists and further the department’s strategic plan.
Attends MSCR summer camp preparation meetings.
Oversee the scheduling and coordination of summer RIS subs.

  • Hours a Week:

    18.5 hours/week. During “high months” (Spring/Summer) hours may increase up to 40 hours/week.

  • Work Hours:

    Between the hours of 8am-6pm.

  • Pay Rate:

    $20-26 per hour.

  • Minimum Qualifications:

    1-2 years experience working directly with participants with disabilities in an inclusive setting.
    Comfort working within G Suite applications, including Drive, Sites, Docs, Spreadsheets, etc.
    Strong collaboration in a team environment to build trusting relationships with coworkers and collectively manage many moving pieces.
    Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of participant and staff information per FERPA
    Experience working with racially, linguistically, and economically diverse communities, students, and staff.
    Willingness to travel to program site locations in various areas in and around the city of Madison, reliable transportation required.

  • Preferred Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree in a related field (special education, rehab psych, social work, etc.)
    Ability to read and interpret IEPs, other special education documents, participant profiles, staff feedback forms and support plans and translate into the context of recreation programming.
    Demonstration of strong organizational skills to manage documents, folders, and projects in various stages of completion.
    Experience delegating tasks to applicable staff and monitoring project statuses.
    Experience coaching and supervising staff.
    Understanding of reasonable accommodations and support strategies through the Americans with Disabilities Act.
    Strong communication skills in interviewing potential Inclusion Staff candidates and accurately documenting staff qualifications and experiences.
    Self-motivation to work on projects and assigned tasks within assigned timeline.
