Youth Ultimate Frisbee Instructor
Madison School & Community Recreation (MSCR) is Madison’s public recreation provider. MSCR offers a wide variety of athletic, recreational, arts and enrichment activities and classes for all ages in an accessible, inclusive setting. Programs include swimming instruction, MSCR on the Move, arts & enrichment classes, youth summer camps, sports camps & clinics, adult & 50+ fitness, adult sport leagues including pickleball, softball and tennis, and a wide variety of outdoor pursuits including paddling sports, pontoon trips, camping, orienteering and challenge courses.
As a department of the Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD), MSCR also provides afterschool enrichment activities, clubs and sports as well as summer programming in Madison elementary, middle and high schools, Allied Learning Center and Meadowood Neighborhood Center. Afterschool clubs and sports include: arts & enrichment, homework/academic clubs, drama, dance, skiing, soccer, basketball, volleyball, cross country and much more!
Program Description:
Ultimate is a sport that incorporates elements of soccer, football and basketball. Participants learn the importance of team work and working together. This program is designed to teach the basics and fundamentals of Ultimate Frisbee. There will be instructional drills and scrimmages throughout the program.
Job Description & Duties:
Ultimate Frisbee Instructors are expected to plan and lead a group of participants ages 5-12, instructing them in the basic skills and fundamentals of the sport. The emphasis is on skill building, fun, fitness, making new friends, sportsmanship and playing the sport. Ultimate Frisbee Instructors are responsible for promoting this atmosphere while keeping play safe and fun.

- Minimum Qualifications:
- Understand and communicate the rules of Ultimate Frisbee.
- Ultimate Frisbee experience typically from high school or post secondary experience.
- Experience in youth leadership.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions with a minimum of direct supervision.
- Ability to communicate effectively, and exercise good judgment, courtesy, and tact when dealing with children, their parents/guardians, and the public.
- Previous experience working with elementary and/or middle school aged children.
- Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with the staff team.
- Self-directed and motivated to create and develop engaging plans.
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Ultimate Frisbee rules and regulations.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
